Filipino American shop owner and activist gets U.S license for Trese graphic novel and opens doors to community

San Jose, Calif.- Michael Dalupo is a Filipino American and owner of Ugat Clothing, a shop based around downtown San Jose dedicated to preserving and advancing Filipino culture. Earlier this year, Ugat Clothing received licensing rights in the U.S for the Trese graphic novel. Trese is a popular but hard to find in stores Filipino horror comic that has an animated series on Netflix.  


Aside from being a businessman Dalupo is a long time community organizer. Since shelter in place has ended Dalupo has opened the doors of his shop to artists, activists and organizers supporting the Filipino community. Most recently he opened his doors to Fil-Am organizers to host a film screening of the film Dekada 70C
